The Port of Algoma Project envisions a nationally significant, seaway depth, public-user port in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, available to a variety of commercial users.
The harbour complex already handles nearly 500 vessels a year and over 5 million tonnes of shipments – such as finished-steel products, iron ore pellets, coal, limestone, coke and other materials – making it the fourth largest port on the Canadian Great Lakes by volume.
